Turn when you see the sign for direct sales (chokubai). At first visitors fail to understand the meaning of "Laughing House" (waraiya). Once inside, you see the three rooms are all in a line as in a usual home. When you are seated you get miso beans as first appetizer, followed by pickles and a small plate of tempura, then soba. Emiko, the owner's wife, makes the dishes, both ceramic and edible, and always different. This shop reflects the warmth of Konan town.
