In 1979 "Kaiseikan" opened as a Kura coffee shop. The storehouse (kura) was made in Aizu-Wakamatsu in 1911 and then moved here. After that our carpenters tried to make a fusion and harmony of Japanese and Western architecture in a special way. Inside, the atmosphere is mainly Japanese traditional, but the excited owner has brought in a strange sort of Western atmosphere too, with the terrace, deck, and other things crammed side-by-side with his collection of oodles of antiques. Coffee and tea are made with what is considered one of Japan's 100 best waters, from the same underground deep source as Bandai Takigasawa water. This gives a mellow taste to the coffee and tea. We have lots of other things on the menu too, like omelet-rice and hamburger steak. We serve a doria lunch and a daily changing menu from 11:00 until 2:00.
